Why Chinese Medicine?
Chinese Medicine has been used for thousands of years to support health and wellbeing. It’s one of the most popular natural therapies used to treat a range of health conditions and to assist with pain-related conditions. It can be used alone or in conjunction with Western medicine.
It encompasses acupuncture, herbal medicine and qi cultivation (energy flow) which combines mindfulness with movement. These are all combined to focus on the entire health of an individual — physical, spiritual and mental health — which are all intricately linked. For example, overworking yourself can lead to fatigue (physical), which can cause a slump in mood (mental) and purpose (spiritual).
This holistic medicine combines all aspects of your health to find the root cause of your health issue. Our body already has a powerful ability to heal itself, but this can sometimes be compromised. Working from my clinic in Wollongong, I take a preventative approach by focusing on why this issue occurred in the first place and then use treatments to promote ongoing health and wellbeing, rather than just treating symptoms (the focus of Western medicine).
Chinese medicine treats the body as a whole, through a variety of therapies that address the underlying problem, while helping you manage some of the associated symptoms, such as chronic pain, skin breakouts, increased stress, menstrual pain or reduced energy.
Recognised and regulated by AHPRA
Chinese Medicine is recognised and regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) along with nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists and dentists. This means that registered Chinese Medicine practitioners like myself are required to follow standards of professionalism, hygiene, safety and the regulation of Chinese herbal medicine products, to ensure the health and safety of all patients.
“Zoe made me feel heard”
Zoe really stood out to me from my first treatment — asking lots of questions, never making assumptions and really looking to understand my experience and symptoms. This created an instant feeling of trust and ease.
I am so glad I found Zoe. She is professional, caring and really listens and has made my treatments a beautiful and relaxing experience.
